Here are a few things you should know about Dubai visa.

Applying for a Dubai visa is easy and cost-efficient, but there are certain rules and requirements which you need to know and fulfil in order to acquire a Dubai visa, like:

1. Gathering the Documents

Before applying for Dubai visa services, you need to gather all the necessary and requested documents and sufficient number of photocopies of the same. The documents you need to submit in order to get your visa are as follows:

  • The guarantor’s passport’s first, last and visa pages
  • Your Emirate ID
  • The visitor’s passport’s first and last pages
  • Each visitor’s passport-size photograph, taken against a white background
  • Each visitor’s passport (with a minimum validity of 6 months)
  • If the visitor is your spouse, the same must be mentioned on your passport
  • Additional cash deposit of up to AED 5,000 may be required for certain visitors (not applicable for family visas*)

2. Type of Visa

There are different types of visas you can apply according to your need or reason for a visit. The types of visas you apply for in Dubai are:

  • Visit visa
  • Visa on arrival
  • Resident visa
  • Dubai tourist visa
  • Employment visa
  • Freelance visa
  • Multiple-entry visa
  • Transit visa for 96-hours
  • Long-term visa (90 days) or short-term visa (30 days)
  • Entry visa for domestic help

3. The Visa Cost

After you have gathered the requested documents and theirs photocopies, the next stop is the cost incurred in acquiring the visa. It differs for the type of visa you are applying for, like the cost of a visit visa is not the same as that of the tourist visa. But the minimum cost to be paid in order to acquire a Dubai visa is AED 200.

4. Visa Run

It means converting your visa from a short term to a long term for instance; you have visited Dubai for a short period of time but you get a job there and need to cross the border for that purpose so you need to convert your visa which is locally called as ‘visa run’. But recently the UAE government introduced a new rule allowing people to convert their visas into residency permits. This procedure now can be done online within the UAE.

5. Where to Get an Emirate ID?

An Emirate ID is a mandatory card issued to all citizens and legal residents over the age of 15. It is linked with your visa status, so every time you renew your visa you need to renew your emirate ID too. You need to fill in an e-application at an authorized typing center, along with which you need to attest a copy of your passport and visa in it. After the submission, you’ll be given a receipt and will receive an SMS regarding the time and place for the registration appointment. Take your receipt from the typing center and your passport at the time of your appointment, where your fingerprint, photograph and retina scan will be taken and you’ll be given a document with your card details, which will include your card’s 4-digit pin. Your emirate ID card will be couriered to you after a few days; the cost of this card is approximately $30 and the typing center services will cost you around $20.

6. The “OK to Board” Pre-Check

This is a document which you should present before the time of boarding your flight to the UAE. This document certifies that all your documents are “OK to Board” and that there is no form of forgery involved. All “OK to Board” requests must be submitted at least 24 hours in advance to your flight.

7. Health Status

During the time of obtaining your Dubai visa, you need to go through a medical examination where you’ll be tested for infectious and viral diseases such as tuberculosis, HIV Aids by providing a chest X-ray and a blood sample. If you pass the test, your visa will be approved, and if you are found to have any viral diseases then your visa request will be denied.
